Drinking Bird

The Drinking Bird's obsessive behavior is caused by the properties of thermodynamics converting thermal energy into mechanical energy.

As the water evaporates on the bird's head it lowers the temperature of the glass head. The temperature drop causes some of the dichloromethane vapor in the head to condense, dropping pressure in the head.

The pressure difference between the head and base causes the liquid to be pushed up from the base. Causing the bird to dip until vapour pressure is equalized.

As long as water is provided to wet his beak, he will keep dipping.

Stands 7 inches.
