Time for a flavour tripping party!

Flavour tripping parties are sweeping the planet and leaving bewildered taste buds in their wake. It’s time to gather your friends and pick up your miracle berries.

Miracle Berries?
Miracle berries alter the taste of food. Sour becomes sweet!!! If you haven’t tried it, it is a real experience. Foods that you couldn’t eat on their own, like concentrated lemon juice, become a tasty treat. Make it the event of the evening or add excitement to your after dinner desert. Either way it will amaze you and your guests.

Try a theme of tropical fruits, or try the weird and wacky. If you are using it with alcohol mixed drinks - use caution. The miracle berry may mask the flavour and you might over consume.

Tips
Let the tab dissolve on your tongue. Try to coat as much of your tongue as possible. Each 10 tablet pack can supply up to 20 people. Simply break the tablet in half. The more acidic the food, the sooner the effect wears off. You might want to start with half a tab and use the second half later in the evening. The effect will last from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

What Should We Try?
You will notice the biggest difference with foods that are very acidic such as citrus. Fruits will have an enhanced flavour like you couldn’t imagine and will be many times sweeter so start with these. (I had to eat the whole orange because it was so delicious!) Concentrated lemon juice was like super sweet lemonade. Red wine was smooth and sweet. Some of the other foods you try might not be magically delicious but the flavour or palatability will have an interesting change. It’s all about the experience so give it a try!

How does it work?
Wikipedia explains: “The berry contains an active glycoprotein molecule, with some trailing carbohydrate chains, called miraculin. When the fleshy part of the fruit is eaten, this molecule binds to the tongue's taste buds, causing sour foods to taste sweet. While the exact cause for this change is unknown, one hypothesis is that the effect may be caused if miraculin works by distorting the shape of sweetness receptors ‘so that they become responsive to acids, instead of sugar and other sweet things’. This effect lasts between thirty minutes and two hours.”
