USB Plasma Ball

In Star Trek plasma was the main energy medium used to power star ships, allows you to traverse the galaxy at warp speed, and used in an assortment of weapons.

But now you can harness that power in a small sphere on your desk, without having to deal with the hassle of cleaning out those plasma conduits.


How it works:
The plasma is made up of a a mixture of gases in an ionized gaseous state. In the sphere the gases are stored at a low pressure, the orb at the center of the sphere serves as an electrode that introduces an alternative current at a higher voltage into the sphere. This energy strips the gasses of electrons leaving positively charged ions (plasma).
The plasma filaments extend from the inner filament to the outer glass insulator,giving the appearance of multiple constant beams of colored light.
When you touch the glass you alter the high frequency electric field and a single beam will then migrate from the inner orb to the point of contact.
